Wooo Hoooo we have a resident Tawny Owl that flitters between our land and next door's I tried to get a photo of him but he was too far away and my crappy camera hasn't got high enough zoom, however, Chris gets his new webcam on 11th June so we will be able to take really good images after that.

We first saw him last Sunday sitting on the track flapping his wings sunbathing, he flew onto the wire over the road and we followed him but as soon as I got out of the car he flew off! Sad I then saw him sitting on our drive in the week but again he is very shy!

Even so, I am very excited to see him flying about.

Well I finally managed to get a photo of him, we got home 2 days ago and he was sitting on the wire that goes over the road, we sped upto the house and then I legged it to get my camera, ran down the drive and bingo he was still there.

We got as close as we could and then focused as much as we could (difficult with a DLSR camera as ideally it needs to be on a tripod!)

I think this is not a bad shot but I need to do better of course

Enjoy

Hi

I am no expert, and don't want to sound like a 'know it all', but I think this may also be a Little Owl, judging by its shape!!!
Does it look anything like my 'Owlivia'?
Also, if it is around a lot in the day, then I would say it definitely is a Little Owl, I believe they are also known as a Screech Owl.

I thought it was a Tawny Owl because of the little size of it, glad to know what the real name is of this Owl though.

Thanks for sharing Little Digger
