An old gardener once suggested to me a sure cure for whitefly, which is probably the most difficult pest of all to eradicate.

He said he just keeps sucking them up in his vacuum cleaner! It needs to be done regularly, but eventually they all go  Grin.

I haven't tried this as my extension lead is far too short. Maybe someone with a shorter garden would like to give it a try. Any offers?

Hehehe!!

Not sure if my hoover would stretch that far either, but if I find any whitefly I will give it a go Wink

Would it work on green and black fly too??

I rather doubt it. The thing about whitefly is that they all take to the wing as soon as you touch the plant, which is one of the reasons why they're difficult to eradicate. The hoover treatment is supposed to suck them all up. I suppose I could try it on a houseplant, but fortunately they are unblighted (so far).

Well I could give that a shot but I have yet to see any whitefly on my plants, the minute I do I will report back to you lot Smiley

I found a few ladybirds in the garden yesterday so I quickly got them on my roses, we also have tons of baby praying mantis in the garden at the moment (I love them I think they are really cute), they also eat aphids and other nasties so I have them all over my roses too and they are quite full! You're lucky not to have any whitefly, they are the biggest pest here and cover everything, especially lettuces and tomatoes. I agree with you about praying mantis, I took a photo of one last year and got in really close in super-macro. He (or she) was looking up at me and looked oddly like the little fella in the "ET" film; it looks so comical it makes everyone laugh who sees it. I would include it here but unfortunately I still haven't worked out how this is done; I know it comes under "Additional Options" and that the size has to be below a certain limit, but it still doesn't work for me  Huh
