Hola

We went walking near Campillos, I think the mountain we climbed was in Guadalteba Parque, I took pictures of what we believe to be Vultures, there was a bird hive at the base of the mountain and there were pictures of the local birds, the main feature was vultures and I am sure this is them, I think I am the only person who thinks they are cute!

They are griffon vultures, buitres leonardos.  They are quite common across mountainous regions of Andalucia.  They live on carrion and used to eat carcasses of dead farm animals that farmers left out on the mountains.  After the EU declared that practice illegal (due to the BSE scare) quite a few died of starvation, so special feeding stations were set up and now they are flourishing again.

From my roof terrace I can sit and watch them gliding on the thermals - I love them too!
