Have just joined.

I am going to have a go at 'planting by the moon'.  I have a couple of books and a calendar to get me going.  What I also like about it is that you get 'red' days when it is recommended you do nothing in the garden.  Has anyone experience of this.    No no, not doing nothing, planting by the moon.  Does it work.

Thanks

Hola Silvermoon

I guess this lead to your username then eh? Wink

I personally have never heard of this planting by the moon but it certainly sounds very interesting.

As for experience, not here, first I have heard of it, I will be very interested to hear all about it though, always up for new ideas Smiley

Hi
Have been sowing and planting according to the dates deemed suitable in the book I am using, In tune withe the Moon (2008).
At the present time have the following veg up in the garden.
Broad Beans, peas, carrots, beetroot, turnip, radish, rocket, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, red cabbage, potatoes onions (sets and seed) leeks and garlic.
The broad beans are the only disappointment but then again it maybe because it was seed left over from last year.

The  fruit and vegetables are divided  into four groups.
Group 1..... Fruits
All cereals, aubergine broad bean courgette cuandalucia gardening ber/gherkin marrow/gourd/pumpkin melon pea pepper/sweet pepper runner bean sweet corn tomato

Group 2... Roots
Beetroot carrot celeriac endive garlic artichoke (Jerusalem) parsnip potato radish salsify/black salsify shallot turnip white/yellow onion

Group 3.... Flowers
All flowers plus artichoke broccoli cauliflower

Group 4.... Leaves
Basil brussel sprouts cabbage celery chervil chinese cabbage cress curly endive fennel leek lettuce rocket parsley spinach swiss chard

As an example I'll give the dates for the rest of December with the suitable group  number next to it.

10th 1, 11th 2, 12th up to miday 2 but NOTHING until after miday 13th then 3, 14th 3, 15th up to miday 4,  Nothing up to miday 16th then 1, 17th/18th 1,  19th/22nd 2, 23rd 3, 24th/25th/26th 4,  27thth/28th/29th 1, 30th Nothing, 31st 3.

Only time will tell if it is successful.  I will keep you posted.
