Hola

I made some Guacamole last night because we had a Mexican and I decided to keep the stones from the middle, Chris bought me a beautiful Avocado tree for Valentines this year but sadly I think I have lost it, despite numerous attempts to keep it alive Sad

So, I have these stones, what do I do now?

Do I stick them in the ground as they are or do I wait for sprouting?

Cheers

I have found that avocados are particularly susceptible to the cold, so I suggest that you first germinate the stones in a warm place indoors, and grow them on until quite late in the spring before planting outside. While back in the UK, some avocado stones sprouted very well (quite by accident!) in the warmth of my compost heap, but of course they were soon killed off by the frost.

I tried planting a bought avocado tree here last spring, but I put it out too early and it turned black from the cold winds. Next time I will delay planting until March or April, and protect the replacement with a temporary collar of some sort.

Alec.

Ah OK, I hear ya!

Mine did a similar thing to yours in that case Alec, mine went black and died, I was gutted Sad

I will germinate these as you have suggested and see how I get on with these, if I look after them inside until next March I might just get lucky!

Thanks
