[Campo Girl]

Woo hooo we took 3 oranges off the tree today, shame it is not providing more than that but the people prior to us planted this tree in a bad position, we had to take out 2 furs trees to provide enough light so the poor thing could grow.

We had an orange tree when we lived in town (Fuengirola), on my terrace garden and this tree provided 140-150 oranges every year, we were amazed! Just before it died the tree produced 175 oranges, we had the tree 5 years but the tree was put in when the house was built, the house is 17 years old.

Anyone know if orange trees have a self life so to speak? Do they produce X amount of oranges and then die or is this just a certain type of orange tree?

Good for you and your oranges!  Yeah moving the fir trees and giving it more light is definitely what it needed

Hola mate,

I have never heard of the tree to have a "shelf-life", I would imagine as long as its looked after they will keep producing fruit. The orange trees in our garden must have been here for years and they are full of fruit right now. Have been juicing them everyday and they are lush!!
