Welcome Pip!

Not sure how good my advice will be, as I too was a bit of a novice when we moved to the country!

We just got stuck in at the deep end really. We dug a veggie patch and then planted seeds to see what would happen. We ended up with onions, lettuce, courgettes, tomatoes and strawberrys! That was last summer, but now i have potatoes, carrots, peppers and more onions growing and have just planted some seedlings of cauliflower and brussel sprouts. As long as you water them regularly I dont think you will have a problem with growing anything!

I am sure there are more experienced gardeners on the forum who can give you some good advice.

Happy gardening and let us know how you get on  Smiley

Thanks for the reply, i understand after "digging" around that sprouts might not be a good idea here so i will just plant everything else and hope for the best!! I think by the time i have prepared the veggie patch with fertiliser n stuff and left it for a couple of weeks then i will not be far off the right time to plant. I will keep you informed, i think its gonna be a case of pot luck.  Cheesy Thanks again

Hola Pip

Welcome to our community, great to have you, beginner or not, we will enjoy your journey and laugh together, I too was a beginner last year, I had a terrace garden when I lived in town, had great success there but now the scale is much larger.

You will have fun growing your own produce and I look forward to helping you where I can, the best way forward is to have a plan of attack, patches where there is sunshine all day, choose which plants can or cannot survive the heat, what is the soil like, test the ph and add what is necessary for your plants to survive, we have very clay soil here so we mix sand and compost with it before planting, we have had great results with this technique, we have boards for soil types, where to plant and so on, so don't worry!

We also have a blog which you may find informative and helpful
Gardening in Andalucia, Spain Friendly tips and advice, share your garden with our community

Look forward to chatting with you soon and if you need any help, give us a shout Smiley
