Hola Jonas

I noticed a post to Silvermoon about his watering system so I thought I would post what we use in the summer, it is nothing special or amazing but we have irrigation across all the sections in my garden that are important and need constant water.

We have an irrigation system that is added to our taps dotted around the garden, we have 2 different types of irrgation, if you want the names I will get them for you.

These irrgation systems are set to go at times we set them, the tap is left on but the irrgation box handles when the water is released, in the heat of the summer these go twice daily, one early morning and one late at night, we never water in the middle of the day, I could not keep my garden lush without these irrigation systems, there is simply too much to water with a hose by hand.

From the garden centre you can buy the pipes which are very cheap and then you buy a small tool that pierces holes in the pipe where you choose, you can then buy various ends where the water can spray, trickle, spin round and much more, it is very effective.

There are some good books on the gardening chat section, that may be of interest to you

Hope that helps

Simone
PS I will get some images of the irrigation this weekend for you

We have used three different types of irrigation control unit throughout the past season, and I thought members might like to know how they compared.

One was about 60 Euros, by Gardena, and has a programming card which has to be set and then pushed into place. I don't recommend this - it's fiddly and now the card jams, so the unit has been returned for repair/replacement.

The middle-priced unit is called a GF14 from the garden centre near Eroski. It's not bad but operates from a 9v battery, so it's dearer to run.

By far the best is the Lidl unit, costing about 22 Euros - but only available about twice a year on their "special offers" leaflet. We've bought two now, because they're brilliant.

Alec.

We didn't pay for ours, they were here when we moved in, one we have to figure out how it works as it is a digital Gardena one hehehe

Interesting about the Lidl vs Gardena, always the way isn't it, when I see them on special this year I will buy one of those so I can ditch the Gardena one - you can have it to get you started off Jonas Wink
