If it's looking sickly, with some soggy or rotten stems, scratch a hole in the earth and see if it feels damp. If so, I can only think that you are over-watering it - with temperatures falling (and heavy rain on the way for Sunday) lawns need much less watering.

Another possible reason, if it's distinctly yellowish, is that it has used up most of the nitrogen in the soil. In that case it would need feeding with a lawn fertiliser, following the instructions on the packet to avoid overdoing it.

Hola

Not sure if Spanish grass will respond to the same treatments as in the UK but over in the UK, this is what I would do.

Get a garden fork and prick it all over, then put down a grass (Tonic) some sort of thing that bucks up lawns with fertilisers in.

I would then put some more grass seed over sprinkled lightly. I wouldn´t mow it for about three to four weeks to give it a chance to respond.

Hope that works.

Hi,
The problem is UK grasses are not the same and do not grow here in Spain. Not unless you are a complete and dedicated fanatic with lots of money, time and water.
The solution is simple - use European, American or Spanish grasses not UK types - the climate is totally different.
But back to your problem.
There are many reasons why grass lawns do not do well in Spain - nearly all of them are easily solved.
The most tricky to spot are fungus deseases and underground pests like bugs etc.
I have found that most problems are down to the wrong type of grass.
I have spant many years (both in the UK and Spain) growing different types of grass, and after living here since 1982 I have come to the conclusion that there are really only three types of grass that people regard as "a lawn" that fit the bill of low maintenance, low watering and low mowing.
If you still want a beautiful lovely lawn email me on lawnsinspain@yahoo.com.
Hope this helps
