Can anyone tell me if Aucuba japonica (spotted laurel) will grow in Spain.  Its quite a robust plant in the UK as it can withstand shade and drought, but wonder if Spanish conditions will be too harsh for ite to grow successfully.  Thanks.

These glossy, green, leathery leaves give permanent garden value to the sturdy evergreen ahrub, aucuba - and in many varieties golden yellow markings light up the foliage.

The shrubs are easily grown, thrive in sun or shade, tolerate pollution and are good as background plants as well as more prominent features.

They do well in containers, for placing in inhospitable corners or on paved areas. The pale purple flowers which appear in early spring, are insignificant but quite decorative.

I will prepare a blog post with further information about Aucuba Smiley

Hope this helps

Thanks for information.  Sounds a useful shrub to plant so will give it a go on a north facing wall.
