Let's Get it Straight

Does everyone else have a fight on their hands at this time of year with weeds?

We manage to keep the areas around the house fairly weed free and we always concetrate on the vegetable patch, since the arrival of chickens we have decided to stop using Round Up as we do not want them getting un-well from it, I don't think it would be very nice if digested!

We are thinking of having the bottom of the garden strimmed before it gets un-ruly, should we buy or rent a strimmer - what do you do in your garden?

If we need to buy a strimmer then we will, however, do these pieces of machinery need a lot of care, would we be better off paying someone and renting a strimmer?

I am unable to use a strimmer due to my scoliosis and we both work full time, plus renting a property on the coast we find we get very little time to do anything else. At the weekends we like to spend enjoyable time in the garden and get many jobs done but we are struggling to work full time and keep up 2,700 square metres in Monda and a 3 bedroom townhouse in Torreblanca!

Advice with this would be very helpful Smiley

I think we need a smaller garden for starters but moving at the moment is not on the cards as we would lose too much in respect of equity hehe Smiley

We have about about two hilly, nay, mountainous ground, where our almonds grow and we have some lovely wild flowers growing there, saffron crocus too.  However, my husband, Chexs , gets his strimmer out and decimates most of the unwelcome guests.   We do keep the good stuff, he is very selective abut I think it takes a lot of  practice, plus all the protective gear which we brought from England.    I am not allowed to touch it.   My advice is to hire somebody to do it for you.   We have aways had an area to strim going back ages in the UK, so are used to it.   If not get the experts in.   Hey, if you are working full time there is so much else to do.  Pay someone to do it for you
