Have been watching Chelsea coverage on BBC the last couple of days.  How fantastic are some of the show gardens this year, particularly liked the one with the cbottom in it, dream on over here, although the sluice gates could give the appearance at times........ha ha!  Cheesy

Some of the small plots are exquisite, another favourite is the "save the bee" garden.  Apparently Einstein said that with the demise of the bee the world would only exist for another 4 years - how scary is that?  Although we have lots of honey bees, blue carpenters ( B52´s,) and potter bees, I have only seen one true black and yellow bumble (as I call them) since we have been over here.  We do try to grow encouraging plants for them and I would have thought the abundance of wild flowers in our area would help.  I know the olive growers don´t help with their sprays though.

Have other members seen these elusive creatures, if so let us know, it would be interesting to monitor their existence.   Enjoy Chelsea if you are watching and you avid gardeners out there don´t drool too much.
Let´s all have a discussion about our likes, dislikes, etc. of this years show.

Cheers
Suzy

nb there is a beautiful wooden chair in the Yorkshire Rhubarb and Custard garden which we would love but it looks tremendously expensive.  Wonder if it is made by the Yorkshire guy who puts mousies on everything.

Hi Suzy,

Good to hear you are enjoying the Chelsea flower show, I havent seen any of it yet but will tune in later on today. I think the problem writing C a n a l is the software Simone has running on the forum has picked up that there is a rude word in there! So it will replace it with bottom!! Grin

I have had loads of bees in the garden at the begining of spring, when my orange trees were in blossom, was lovely to hear the soft humming tone everytime I walked past the trees. But I agree with you they are not the same as the English bumble bee. I have also got plenty of the B52's, big black bees. They do freak me out though as they always seem to aim straight for my head! But like you say we need to encourage them in our gardens Smiley

Enjoy the rest of the flower show Smiley

LOL sorry Suzy but if you look closely there is a rude word inside C A N A L which was being used heavily by spammers here so we stripped rude words and our software instead replaces those rude words with much nicer ones Wink

Heh heh, after thinking about it for a while last night, I realised that might be the case. Thanks Gina and Simone for confirming that.  Will have to be careful with the words I use now.

I know what you mean Gina about the B52s aiming for your head, it is a bit unnerving I must admit, maybe we are all flowers to them.
Cheers
