Hola

Is anyone else growing onions?

I did my first this season and they are great, I grew proper onions, not spring, I am well chuffed, I only had 30 and we are still eating them, but even so they are going well

What should I plant in their place?

I grow many things including onions. I cropped mine in July (planted in November), dried them out and they are now swinging from my bodega ceiliing. It is always best to rotate crops. Where onions have been cropped I have planted Calabrese for the autumn and late lechuga. My early lechuga crop was a disaster as I all the seed I purchased did not germinate so I presume it was dead seed. But it takes time before you know they are not going to grow (you keep thinking that they must), so growing time is wasted but that's the way the garden grows or dos'nt in this case. My new crop is fine.
