Hi Lizzy
I am sure Campogirl Simone can advise you on the chickens.

As for the roses, it is tricky over here. There don't appear to be any rose speI am disturbed ts around, although a couple of our big garden centres in Granada have a reasonable choice. David Austin (I had a small collection of his gorgeous roses in my Cheshire garden) has a site here -
espana@davidaustinroses.com. You could try Jardin de Ingenio, Velez Malaga/Torre del Mar exit 272 of N340. Don´t know it myself but it has some very good write ups. Also have found a company, styleroses.co.uk who seem a "no nonsense" supplier of roses. (probably cheaper than Harkness). Delivery charges are a problem from the UK though and they will only supply bare rooted roses, not potted, for obvious reasons. The bare rooted will be okay for planting in autumn though.
I have inherited 2 roses at the end of our drive, where the campo and olive land begins, they look like the pink Queen Elizabeth, amazingly they survive and flower despite getting hardly any water or attention, apart from a quick squirt and clip every so often. Our neighbours have a profusion of these roses, they give them no attention whatsoever and they still bloom brilliantly. I think roses are a lot tougher than we think, we have been so indoctrinated in England about all the care they need - remember Harry Wheatcroft ha ha!
Good luck with your search and look forward to seeing pics of your roses blooming in the near future.
Cheers
Suzy
