I live in the foothills of the mountains overlooking Altea after spending 5 months reforming the house and then 4 months reforming the gardens. The gardens were covered with all forms of ivy though the fruit trees were in reasonable shape. My wife looks after the pretty flowers (except when it comes to the spade work) and I concentrate on fruit and veg. We have Navel oranges, nispero, lemons, figs, black grapes and last spring I planted a peach and an almond. This autumn I plan to plant an apricot and they are my favourite fruit when semi-dried. I grow many varied veg depending on how they will survive in the summer heat. This summer we have grown and cropped tomato, cuandalucia gardening ber, beetroot, onion, courgette, red and green pepper, peas, lettice plus various herbs. I have already planted for winter parsnip and carrots with potatoes chitting in the log shed. I prefer to grow all my produce from seed as there is less chance of introducing any infections from another grower and of course it gives you a greater sense of satisfaction as things get bigger. Growing here in Spain requires a change in tactics than growing in the UK and I am still learning and I expect I will never stop, but I get a lot of tips from all my Spanish neigbours (not always good ones).

Hola Terry

Welcome to the forum, sounds like you a real avid gardener so you are a great addition to the forum, I am sure we will learn much from you

My husband and I seem similar to you, I like flowers as well as all the fruit and veg, hubby is not keen on flowers, he doesn't mind that we have them and knows they look nice but he would rather play with his veggies Smiley
