Hola

We have some sad news, our rooster Gordon was killed last Friday night, we arrived home from holiday Saturday morning to find him scattered around the garden with some very upset ladies - I balled my eyes out for hours, felt so guilty for leaving him to his own devices!

RIP Gordon - we will miss the aggressive little sod, even though he used to kick and peck me I still loved him, he was just doing his thing that roosters do - protecting his girls. He fought to the death and saved his girls though as they are all intact without a mark on them so well done to Gordon, he was a good rooster Smiley

We are replacing him because the hens are just not the same without him, they don't really know what to do and we are worried something could easily take them now, we won't be leaving our chickens free next time we go on holiday, whether they like it or not!

Very sad

RIP Gordon, he was a funny rooster and he used to scare the living day lights out of me sometimes!!

Hope the new guy is getting on ok with the girls Smiley

Poor old Gordon, what a hero protecting his girls.  How is Rodney doing?

Thanks ladies, I was so upset and shocked at my emotion for the angry chuffing sod hehehe, I did love him very much and still miss him stomping up past the pool chasing someone or another Smiley

Rodney is getting on OK but not a man! He goes to bed first and gets all cosy and then the ladies do what they want, when it suits them, this would never have happened with Gordon, he would round up his ladies before sunset and get them to bed, he was very strict hahahaha

This new one Rodney is just too much of a woos for my liking, I am hoping he will grow himself a set soon and start claiming his territory, the new hen is also still being henpecked but they are slowly allowing her into the pack but it is slow going, my first ladies are properly settled now and since Gordon left us they seem to have taken over, right little broads they are! hahahaha

Will take some updated images of them all and post on here
