Well, we have had two casualties in the couple of days rain and wind we experienced over the weekend.  We inherited from the previous owner 4 pots containing conifers, last winter we lost one pot to frost and it cost us the princely sum of 40 euros to replace the pot and replant it.  Last week in a sudden flurry of wind 2 more pots were blown over and, of course, shattered!!  No more....  I refuse to pay that amount to replant very boring plants, no flowers, etc.    It upsets me to consign perfectly healthy plants to the compost heap but the price of pots is exorbitant now, plus the compost cost.   Has anyone else noticed how much the cost of terracotta pots has risen, I thought they were very reasonable when we first moved here but they are catching up with the UK now...

Awww Susie, what a shame, it is horrible when you lose something that looked nice and you enjoyed.

I must admit I have not bought pots for a long time, I have a pile of them next to my shed and luckily the ones that were bought for us for a wedding gift have survived the winds, although we are in a valley so perhaps we are a little more sheltered.

I do not have many things in pots though, just the odd tree, here and there but mainly I have all my plants in beds or climbing up something Smiley
